Inhabiting an eco-friendly building, the brief for this site was about bringing Mojo's vibrant philosophy to Wellington’s waterfront. This philosophy describes coffee as an ‘irrational thing’, focusing more on creating social meeting spaces, ‘places to be’.

The bar’s gesture reflects the existing lines and forms of the building. Coloured vertical battens, from tango through to sail blue create a shifting harmony of hue; a different combination from every angle of the room. These battens both relate to the tidal nature of the waterfront as a continually shifting landscape, while rhythmically playing off the existing horizontal louvers that line the building’s façade.

With its distinctive forms, playful use of colour and successful catering for corporate requirements, this site is a compact arrangement of spatial and design elements; a stimulating and significant contribution to Wellington’s waterfront.
